Kings Cross

Woolf has been created on Chalton Street, near Kings Cross in London.

It’s in an area known as Somers Town, a place with an interesting past, vibrant spirit and eclectic cultural mix - a place that’s close to the centre and also on the edge.

On the fringe of Bloomsbury, behind the British Library, near the shopping, dining and entertainment of Coal Drops Yard and local to St Pancras Old Church, we’re creating a home and creative hub.

This is a neighbourhood that’s always known change and absorbed fresh ideas – with rail lines, canals and the Euston Road carving through the area – and has strong cultural, academic and religious foundations.

Side by side, there are historic locations and recent developments, new offices and repurposed sites, Georgian dwellings and modern estates, local businesses and international headquarters. And now, in streets with energy and edge, there’s a new destination.

As Woolf founder Joe Mills says; “There’s an authenticity to the area, that I love. You can just feel the history, even though there are parts that are new, redeveloped or repurposed. There’s also an undercurrent which is a reminder of my early days in Soho; that community feeling and a sense of belonging that might not be so obvious on the surface.”

Developing the site, another personal connection crystallised for Joe; “Spending time around the area, and especially Coal Drops Yard, I realised how much of my own history was around here.

“For a long while I was a hairdresser by day and DJ or promoter by night.

“Coming back and spending time here reminded me of that time around The Cross and Bagleys – an important creative element in my life and the local area and part of the energy.”

The Somers Town Coffee House - our neighbour directly opposite at 60 Chalton Street - is a great, friendly pub with meeting rooms, private dining and an apartment to hire. We’ve partnered with them to offer you breakfast, lunch or snacks straight from their kitchen to you at Woolf, ready to enjoy before or after your service.
