The Globes have always been about simplicity and effortlessness hair rather than the more structured styles seen at the Oscars. Eschewing the retro glamour vibe of the year before, sleek hair took centre stage on the red carpet with plenty of ears also on show as slick side parted hair was tucked behind them - a sure fire developing hair trend for 2014. Bob's were also showcased in a variety of guises from blown-out to messy and unstructured. And a red carpet would not be the same without a sprinkling of hair-up do's all with less fuss and more mess despite the hours they would have taken to achieve!
Here are some other styles that caught our eye and transfer well for any special occasion (L-R)....
Lupita Nyong’O – Perfectly framed fade haircut with a hard part. This typically masculine haircut sets off an androgynous look contrasted against her cute and petite features.
Jennifer Lawrence – Show you can still rock a crop on the red carpet with this versatile side sweeping pixie cut.
Helen Mirren – These soft waves are reminiscent of 40’s glamour but modernised with a cropped side.
Cate Blanchett – Sleek and glamorous, her hair is pinned up to give the illusion of a shorter length. Another look inspired by the starlets of the 40’s.
Michelle Dockery – A classic and simple bob with curled tips for volume.
Zosia Mamet – A bluntly cut modernised bob with messy side part for a casual but pretty look.
Drew Barrymore – Long, sleek hair with a strong side parting; A modern take on a classic hairstyle.
Sandra Bullock – Her dark locks looked great with this side parted slicked back pony-tail with messy ends.
Olivia Wilde – Still championing the ombre look, Olivia's wavy hair was pulled to the side with a striking, romantic effect.
Sarah Hayland – A messed up, thick, halo braid, that wouldn't look amiss on the characters of Game of Thrones!
Zooey Deschanel – A heavy fringe and side bun accessorised with a white flower.
Randisha Jones – A lovely relaxed and confident hairstyle, a simple top bun with soft long fringe and very ballerina-esque.
Next up, the Oscars 2014!
