Often difficult to navigate with its maze like feel, Soho is a grouping of streets bordered by Oxford Street in the North, Shaftesbury Avenue in the south Regents street in the west and Charing Cross in the east. Once a Royal Park in the heart of London, by the end of 19th century, Soho firmly established itself as a nightlife centre attracting artists, musicians and writers.
The 20th century saw the beginning of Soho's development as a media centre with many film companies setting up shop in the area. It was tainted for a few years with the rapid sex trade development of the 1960's, but by the early nineties a clamp down slowed the trade down and an accent to today's hip status began.
Mixing gay Soho, media Soho, red light Soho, late London Soho has helped this lively neighbourhood in the middle of the city to attract a cosmopolitan crowd. It has now become the epitome of London cool with some of the best bars, restaurants and shops in UK as well as becoming a highly prized residential address in the city.
